Adding aux

Hi, I think about adding more aux to my console (4000E).
I'm pretty sure some of you already done that.
My question is: where is the best place to take the signal on each channel ? (pre and post).

Thanks, I will check MWTM's videos.
I already use the small faders with the output buton to feed a buss for parrallel compression.
But for me, it just gives one more stereo aux related to a subgroup. Is there a way to add more than one aux that can be a different mix for each ? Just like having more aux pots like the 5 "real" aux on the console for feeding more headphone amps while recording and more FX while mixing ?
Sorry If my questions are stupids, I'm not english fluent, I got the manual but I don't see a way to add several different mixes.

When you select say bus 1-4 at the same time the direct level on each buss will control master level for each buss. If you return buss to console the main fader now becomes efx level control also.

Also you could do bluestone/ air cues mod. You get send off front rear buss assign. You also could do what Shelly Yakus does and mod the buss pan and make that an efx send. Lots of work on those two choices. You could only modify a few channels like tla did. He has a few just for extra send for say vocal.

On the early E series at Le Studio I modded the rear buss to be an extra send. I turned the front / rear pan into gain control for rear only.  I bypassed the L / R pan pot for the rears. I pulled the rear VCA cards in the center section and you could use the pre VCA sends as your outputs.
Paul Northfield can up with the idea. He was always coming up with cool ideas.

Would adding a split cues system work for you?

This puts 1-4 aux sends on the left of the console, and makes the right of the console 5-8.

Alternatively, I have a cues matrix system here which adds up to 8 additional cue sends, for a total of 12 cue sends. It was from a live TV studio, on a 6088G console.

It requires considerable modification to each channel, and the back planes.

That's gorgious !!!!
But I think it will be far cheaper for me to do a custom mod on my console (I found where to take the signal pre and post) to add 8 or 12 stereo aux with 2 mono talk back channels (one from control room, one from studio TB mics), one stereo return for tracking reverb and one stereo return for mix to can with a priority to mute aux sends (but let talkbacks) while listenning mix to can.
What is your price, just for curiosity ?

Yes, the install of this cues mix system is very complex.
It took a tap off the Cue 4 - pre fader, and sent it via a additional buffer board on each channel, to U9 of the edge connector.
All back planes had an additional flying BICC connector to then carry the signal to the cues matric mixer. From the cues mixer it went to a modified SL652G split cues box.

You would be looking at a minimum USD$8000 to get this setup for a 48 channel console, and that is a low end estimate for an additional 4x cues only..

Hi! This is my first post in the forum!
I’ll be trying to add the Local Aux Sends Module (SL652G) on my 4048G very soon and
I still have doubts on a couple of things, the first being, where do I get the power from?
The Manual describes the S152E connection, but I don’t know where it is going to be connected in the console…
Can someone help? (Sorry I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I didn’t want to start a new one on the same topic).

I found a way to take the signal of each channel, sent it to a not used pin on the connector on the edge of the channel's motherboard.
Each channel signal goes to a Presonus 32R input.
So now, I got 8 stereo cues (in addition of the ST+4 of the console) wich follow the SSL status and pre/post settings just like the built in ones
and I can control them with an I pad.
I'm happy.
