Noise and fuzz...
« on: March 03, 2013, 10:47:53 PM »
A few weeks ago my ssl started making odd noises and fuzz. The only way I've found to make it go away is if I press the external to preview button a few times, and then it usually goes away for a week, and comes back.

any ideas on a fix?

I don't understund you completly. Are you refering "External to Monitors" button at center section just below External Switches?
If so, first thing to do is check card 24. Perhaps bad power cap at +11V or +/-18V rail.

On my 6k, there is an " external to preview" button, right next to the "external to monitors." The "external to preview" button is what I'm referring to. Would that still be the 24 card? The problem did start happening after I replaced the t19 ic on 154 card (which is the equivalent of a 24 card). Would this have something to do with it?

Ah, 6K. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with them.

Obviously something has went wrong when you've replaced T3.
In my service manual 24 card has two T3's.  :o Another is TL084 buffer for LF, RF, LB and RB meters, another is a logic chip 4071 to control quad bus CUT's. Which one you replaced?

Ok, I read your older posts on the forum.
It looks like your console is quite different than 4K so obviously T3 I refered above is not same part in your console.

Do you have Service Manual?

Yeh, it would be good if you could scan some of the drawings for your centre section from the service manual, then we're all looking at the same schematics.

Maybe take some pics of the 651, so we can see the differences to your console
