SSL G computer and TR issues

Hello, I have worked on these desk's for years but have never dove into the computer much.
A client of mine has a 56ch frame loaded with 48ch the first bucket on the left had stereo
modules when it was new but it is currently empty. The deal: the computer has 2 sets
of analog input and output cards, it was set up so it only uses the 50way ribbons not
the 20way ribbons that you would normally use on consoles larger the 40ch.
according to the computer configuration guide one in/out card can handle up to
56ch. Since one of his in/out cards appears to be dead he should be able to
switch over to one set of i/o cards and reconfigure the software, is this correct? 
And how would one do this? also his TR gets stuck when he tries to play a
set up, I hope this is also related to the i/o card problem. thanks! N

you should be able to if my understanding is correct, need to get into the config stuff, watch it Berno.

Keith would be a good authority on that.

Sticking TR is often either the switches on the Mux module on the channel being set wrong/funky and the board/computer being set to care, turn that off for testing.  Do you have the same number of channels? that may not be helpful if not set correctly.

Am in a 2 card situation and I too have heard it possible to run on a one card system, but I have no clue on how to reconfigure the reconsole. Along with this my total recall sceen is coming back just way green lines when using the Dramastic video screen.  Any information that one could provide would be extremely use.

What is not coming back from the computer? VCA, TR?

Most of the various configuration changes are in an area of the computer that requires a password to access. Its in the front of the manual somewhere as well as the process to get there. I recall the password being BERNOULLE but could have a spelling mistake. I don't have a manual at hand, so can't look it up. There are many layers of menus and pages, so familiarize yourself. Its not rocket science, some of the stuff can be a bit arcane, usually those are not applicable to your situation. My comment about BERNO is a reference the computer makes when you correctly enter the correct mode to access those pages.

You should be able to get composite video off the GREEN bnc on the back of the computer to test the TR computer out. monochrome only. Remember its all PAL.

Thanks! is this info in the computer service manual? because we don't have one yet. and what switch are you
referring to when you say care? I know there is a don't care on the TR card how should those be set? thanks again. N

Norman is the tech on my console.  It is the one he is referring to in the initial post.

We found out that the second set of analog input and output cards are working but maybe not 100%. We are able to buckets to respond to the first 2 connections of 50 ways on the front of the computer on the left side. The computer panels shows these as stereo A-H and Patch VCAs. If we plug the buckets into any 50 ways belows these on the front we get no VCA communication with the console.

Also we have the Dramastic box for the video conversion, but we cannot get a TR screen at all or any other screen but the base SSL screen. Any suggestions or do think this is related to our TR problem over all.

It doesn't seem like video sync is being put out by which ever cards produce it when you hit the 1,2,3,4 buttons at the top to go to other screens. Those screen look like the main SSL screen if you pull the sycn bnc from the Dramastic box. Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

You type SSL 4000 then hit execute button, then setup button

I did that. After typing SSL 4000 [EX], the computer just hangs. I have to hit cancel to get back to a prompt.

Here is what I get when I hit the 1,2,3,4 button above the 5" monitors.  I seems like the unit isn't receiving sync properly.  It works fine on the SSL button.
