so your saying when you push your link button the next channel over isnt following? The Link Button ties together the control circuit of the dynamics with the control circuit of the next channelstrip to the right. This means that the dynamics will respond to either channel's signal. It links the sidechain of one channel to the side chain of another. The Sidechain is the signal from the gain detection element of a compressor that feeds into the gain reduction circuit. Engaging this link simply means that the same signal will trigger both sections to work, but does not affect the individual settings of each compressor. Have you tried it with other channels and is your console moded in any way. There are soldered jumpers on the channelstrip that most people forget about that let you run the path in dif ways. It would be quite odd that none of the links work as they should through the whole console. Btw as much of a pain in the butt as it is, for things to work as hoped for on an ssl it should be completely calibrated card by card channel to channel, yes the thought alone gets you sick ...lol...
