SL613E test jig question with VCA faders

I'm trying to test a 4000 channel strip that has the VCA fader. It has the little extra cable that ran into the fader module. I'm not getting any sound thru the test jig... do I need to plug the VCA cable thing in someplace?

There looks like there is a port on the test jig ch card that would fit it...

Also, was/is there an operation manual for the test jigs?

It should run faderless, but you might have to link computer send an return.. hard to say.

That lead is for the Ultimation Fader, does the other end plug into a card?

Yes, it plugs into what I have always called the VCA card on the motherboard... when putting the channel back into the SSL, the end in the picture plugs into the fader.

What you're calling the VCA card, without seeing a picture is actually the Moving fader card.

I guess this Jig is different also, with the Fader, and the fader select knob.

The Jig also has an S9 connection.. but that's for TR not the fader

This is the Jig that will do stereo, dual line and mono modules, but not sure if the ultimation if facilitated

The 612 is just for Mono channels only, and guessing this is VCA only. I'm really not sure the procedure for Ultimation channels.

I know it has a relay IC on the moving fader card, that can be bridged to give a VCA path a unity gain, with no fader present.

afaik ssl never made a dedicated test jig for ultimation. there was an aftermarket one (can't remember who built it), but this was just for the fader itself.
the ultimation vca card needs to be aligned on an extender, with the fader also installed (or use sintechs workaround. i found that 'unity gain' can drift quite a lot from fader to fader tho, and you want to make sure that 0 on the fascia is your reference).
easiest way is to run a tone, direct, ready group, and align unity gain on the fader to 0dbvu on the meter - make sure that the meter is aligned first of course. don't touch the other pots unless you recapped.

while you're at it, align the fader itself. ah, the constant maintenance joys of ultimation...

I don't want to test Ultimation... at least not right now. I just want to test my channel strips for passing audio... EQ, DYN etc...

You could swap out the moving fader card for a 013 VCA card just to test the rest of the channel.
