No Green on my Total Recall Display
« on: June 29, 2014, 01:06:35 AM »
Total Recall working fine otherwise, but there doesn't seem to be any green transmitting to the external monitor. Which seems particularly weird to me, cos doesn't the sync also travel on the "G"?
tried tweaking every menu of monitor/converter box/swapping BNC. Seems totally fine otherwise!

anyone seen this before/have any ideas?

how do you have it hooked up?

has it worked before?

depending on which connections you are usig the G may only be Green.

also try swapping colors  if you are using the RGBHV outputs and see if its the monitor or the source.

Yeah, Alans right. You need to workout if it's the TR board, or the Video distribution card that's at fault.

Also, if you have a small monitor, with an Svideo input (yellow) you can use this input to view the green output in Black and White.

But as Alan has suggested, play a setup, then swap the small RGB output connectors directly on the TR stack.

So does the RGB monitor "Green screen" In non-TR mode, it redirects the black and white primary output (same as on the back) to the Green Video.

Atttached, is the SCART diagram (thanks to the person that originally uploaded this, it was very useful info :-)

Ah, ok, this is useful info/a good place to start, thanks guys.

Currently I think I just took 3 BNCs from the computer rack at RGB > a converter box (Extron DVS 204 Video Scaler) > VGA to a little NEC monitor.

I will post a photo later today when I'm at the studio.
Haven't had it work before, just getting it going now.

not sure if this is helpful, or you can even see, but just snapped some quick pix of how things are hooked up

You don't have Sync from the computer.

Did this scaler come with the console? or something you've sourced?

was something i sourced, so def could not be "the one", but sure seems like it met all the requirements.
i thought the same thing too about the SYNC, but what's strange is that that I thought by omitting the SYNC you'd get the colors working, but not really the picture. this seems be to the opposite

So would you say your picture is Black and White? or do you have Red and Blue?

Looking at the manual, it's a shame that the RGBs input is on the 15 way connector

Think this is Composite Sync, and not Sync on Green.. SSL computers are very fussy!!! know that much :-)

Heheheh.. just kept on buying TV's till it worked! Ended up with a Sony Bravia

But.. do now have the Scaler that Dramastic re-badged, which is known to work! It was just £20 used on eBay!

This thread maybe useful in the future, and it would be great to build a compatibility list for known TV's and scalers to work out of the box:

http://forum.sslmixed.com/index.php?topic=503.0

This week, were going to test, a smaller Sony LCD TV.. and, the Generic version of the box that Dramastic audio sold as the 'SSL to Computer Flat screen' product.

so are you inclined to think that it's an issue w/ the card, or the monitor/scaler itself?

I was under the impression that any box that could scale it from PAL to VGA, and allowed for RGB would work. (not to mention any ole' lcd screen)

we haven't attempted to look into this yet (cos there's so much other stuff ;) ) but now I'm wondering if the scaler is no good.
here's what it is:
