LCD Meters

So, I'm finally getting to these. Just about everything else on the desk is up and running, and I'm quite keen to get these happening. Does anyone here have these crazy LCD meters? Currently the only thing I'm getting to show up on them is what just looks like some noise.
If you were going to start hunting these down the problem, where would you start?

Usually, the LCD meters are fed via switcher box, that I don't see on your console, from the few pics so far.

if you look at the 8k brochure emailed to you a while back, you can see this unit on page 6 below the meters.

It maybe hardwired, maybe 1-8 it's stereo A, B, C, D? did you try these buses?

This box also switches the meters between Peak/VU and it looks like your peak hold is on? as the top/overload is illuminated on your meters.




The meters look like they work, but your right, they're listening to a high noise floor.. on the 2 bus, with no music playing, they sit at no reading:

ah, i see, you're talking about the panel directly below meter #5?

Yeah, that's it.

Yeah, I don't have that module, but all the stuff below it.

Is that a deal breaker? What is the name of that module?

It's the SL 544 meter switcher cassette. It may've been just an option.. but the reason the meters are labeled 1-8 and not fixed destinations would suggest they're multifunctional.

These meters have balanced inputs on a three pin connector, so it will be easy to route the main mix to a pair (pretty much what I'm doing here, also without the switcher)

Also, your meters are in VU mode, do you have any switching on the centre section? any buttons like: PPM, Fast PPM, Peak Hold?

Yeah, I was under the impression that they could show mix buss, ABCD busses, and cue sends, which would be so cool to be able to jump around and see different things on them.

I do indeed have switching (see below)

I'm gonna try firing up the film stuff again today/tomorrow & see what, if anything we can get there
