Time to start to look at the 2 bus metering, My Plasma PPM is great, but need the calming effect of Vu meters! and the sweet spot is in the VU area.

Today is my first attempt to make blanking panels!


Paint experiments, pretty close in tone to Raven Splatter, but has the metallic look.



Cutting a panel from raw Aluminium with a hacksaw :(

Third coat, the paint dries in seconds in the summer heat!





Finish is a shade darker than ideal, but pleased for a first attempt :---))))

Any way to give sintech "legend"-status in this forum? Unbelieveable work!

Reminds me of the metal panel for my E-Series Computer Keyboard in G-Series grey. Needs a serious repaint.

Hey Marc, the console is in use everyday, and really happy with how it sounds.

Currently, building the MK2 Centre Section using all the usual cards from the 651, but leaving out. the monitor section, talkback and maybe the oscillator. The backplane is all point to point.

It's quite compact, and has dual concentric pots in places.

When it's complete, it'll get fitted it over a few days, and change a few other aspects.  8)

Started working on the MK2 centre section this week, it's just nine essential cards:

32 x 2 (cue mix amps)

30 (2 Stereo echo return)

27 (Compressor Time Constants)

26 x2 ( Mix amps + VCA)

25 (Quad Bus Outputs)

21 (Status)

20 (VCA Groups)

Recapping on all the cards begins:




Impossible to get the right size connectors, discontinued at most suppliers.












D-sub I/O for all audio connections




Point to Point on the backplane begins :)

Myke, the original 651 is between 3 and 4U, I could make it exactly that size.. but would need better metalwork.

This is made (as usual) out of reclaimed ISEP rail based oddments and general rubbish. 4U is comfortable and easy to mount the backplane, and have a space for wiring, which can build up P2P.

I’ll reduce the hight once my front panel is planed and drilled. I got some large 4 deck dual concentric pots to accommodate for the cue send EQ’s.

Learnt a lot from my current Mk1 (which is fully working and sounds great) but you have to make it. ..to know how to make it better!

Looks awesome Andy. I finally got all the cards that you have, except the 2X 032 cards and the 2 X 026 cards. Where did you get your edge connectors for the cards at? Plus the P2P backplan?

Hi Myke, the 345 series is discontinued by most suppliers, since last buying 110 pin versions 18 months ago.

This EDAC 120 pin (60 double sided) will work for all cards:

It does appear they have just 2 remaining in stock, so it maybe worth giving them a call.

The 025 card has 5 pairs of unused pins, so I've hacksawed the very top of the edac to allow the card to fit through.

The rest of the cards, I've de-pinned them down to 110, and then keyed them so they fit correctly each time.

Thanks Andy, just bought the matrixs boards. Edge connectors are next on my list. These things are expensive, lol.
Any other connectors you might think I'll need please let me no.
Was trying to look at your pics to see how far apart you were placing the connectors.
