Ready tape problem **SOLVED**

I am the owner of an SSL 8000 GB, I have a problem with a ready tape (check tape) switch. When I turn on my console this buttom still iluminate permanently, and when I press the record buttom, the channel do flip (line and mic). it only happens in the channel number 7, the others work fine.

I change all the cards and I change the rail of that channel, and still happen the same. Someone has an idea?

Sounds like the switch is bad.

Do you have a switch to replace it with?

yes I have it...I will try but I think that if it would be the problem, the rec buttom doesn't do flip in the channel.

Hi Luke,

To be clear when you power the console, the the check tape switch is illuminated even though its not depressed correct?

And did you try switching the channels to see if its the connector strip in the bucket?

If you look at the connectors where the channels drop in, the pins can sometimes get bent or break and this might cause it to happen.

If you flip the channels between two modules you can see it right away. If the problem doesn't happen when you switch a channel, then its something in the module itself. If the same thing happens with a different channel, then my first guess its the connector inside the bucket.

I'm dealing with the exact same problem on my 8K. It's isolated to the 293 card. I'll report back when I find the solution.
