hi Artur,
sorry for my late reply!
just back from abroad, but my laptop ain't as it has changed ownership involuntarily
may the new owner be filled with a sense of guilt and shame as he failed to identify the valuable objects

to answer your question - a recorded t/c track would be just as fine as well
as much as i appreciate any new developments on the computer side of things i fail to see a problem in using it the way it has been used for 30+ years
the beauty of it being that it kinda forces you to use your ears rather than your eyes - and to me that's all what music is about
i'm considering myself to be extremely lucky being able to work with some of the world's best engineers
if they have one thing in common - the automation computer NEVER EVER came up as an issue?!
one of the main reasons the 4k is still alive and in demand is the fact that the designers have relied on commercially available parts - they didn't wanna cash in on 'exclusive' components
good luck with fixing an amek hendrix or galileo console and their purpose made chips ... they still sound great, though
i've designed the konnektor with that very philosophy in mind - hence i made it work on MTC and MMC, the dinosaurs of midi
i thought that any software not capable of providing those basic midi functions is probably not worth being used on a professional level anyway
the 4k computer is no exception - it's based on 74x ttl chips!
those will most likely be available after a nuclear strike, at no cost at all
and if you come to a standstill there's guys like George Gilbert who literally know every bit of that system and will be able to fix any card + provide you with a replacement
having said that, i really appreciate developments like the dramastic audio approach
all those projects will help the 4k to survive in the long run - thanks guys!
cheers, werner
